Before/After School Program Information |
The YMCA Childcare Program is a before and after school childcare service.
The program is designed to support and strengthen your family by providing safe,
affordable, and nurturing childcare for your elementary age children (age 5-12 yrs.).
The YMCA is open to all children regardless of race, color, religion, national origin
or sex.
In order to develop your child to his/her fullest potential, the YMCA has
established four program objectives:
- To increase your child's social skills
- To facilitate his/her homework completion
- To introduce him/her to new recreational skills
- To promote respectful, responsible, faithful, honest and caring behavior
To accomplish these objectives, the YMCA has structured weekly curriculum
which includes:
• Small & large group activities
• Study time and tutoring
• Independent playtime

Administration and Staffing |
 |
The Before and After School Program is administered by the YMCA of Arlington Childcare Department. All sites are licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS). For more information on childcare
standards, visit the TDFPS website at http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Child_Care/About_Child_Care_Licensing.
All YMCA of Arlington Childcare programs are staffed with qualified, trained personnel who meet strict YMCA standards. The YMCA hires staff through careful selection, and the staff-child ratios are 1:15. References and two criminal history background checks are obtained on all employees. Staff are trained in YMCA policies and procedures, as well as First Aid and CPR.
Sites are inspected every week by YMCA supervisors to ensure quality. The Childcare Director visits each site at least twice during the school year; in addition to these inspections, the State of Texas inspects our sites twice a year.
Upon registration for the After School Program, all parents will receive a printed copy of the Parent Guidebook. It is
important that all parents read and understand this guidebook prior to your child's first day in the program. For more
information or questions about the guidebook, contact the Childcare Department at (817) 275-8418.
