Aquatics Lifeguard Certification |
The YMCA Lifeguard Certification Course is designed to prepare the participant with the knowledge and skills needed for lifeguards in the pool, lake, river, surf and water park environments.
Certifications you will receive by completing this course include: YMCA Lifeguard Training; CPR for the Professional Rescuer; First Aid; AED; and Oxygen Administration. This is not a water park certification course. The comprehensive course offers up to date information on how to guard, anticipating and preventing problems before they occur, and take action to help those in danger when necessary.

• Non-Member: $175, includes certification fee, books and class materials.
• Recertification: $75, Your certification cards must be current.

Prerequisites |

The prerequisites must be met before participating in the course. These skills will used as building blocks to present new material. The prerequisites are:
• 16 years of age by the last date of the class.
• Pass the following swim test the first day of class: Perform a long shallow dive, and then swim 500 yards (including 100 yards
each of sidestroke, front crawl, and breaststroke, sidestroke kick with one are forward and inverted breaststroke with arms on the
stomach); tread water for two minutes, legs only, no hands; surface dive head first and feet first in 8-10 feet of water and swim
underwater for 15 feet.
