The Y is a charitable organization making a significant impact on the communities we serve by distributing more than $500,000 worth of free and subsidized programs that are available and open to everyone.
Donations from members and friends help support the Y's outreach efforts each year, making participation in programs and services available to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. Donations allow kids to be involved in childcare, youth sports, and so many other Y programs. We count on the support from the community to help make up the difference and keep our costs low so everyone can participate.Click here to read more

The Special Friends Program is unique to the YMCA of Arlington and is made possible through a grant from MHMR of Tarrant County. The program, now in its 10th year, provides exercise, fitness classes, healthy living skills and learning and creative activities for special needs adults ages 18 and above.
The group meets 4 days per week for 2.5 hours per day. Group size is limited to 20 participants. The program offers a wide variety of activities to improve physical fitness and overall well-being in an energetic, positive community setting. Our curriculum blends the core values and supportive environment at the YMCA with the specific goals of the grant. Prospective members are referred to the program through various social service agencies in Tarrant County.
“Everything about Special Friends is so much fun! I love coming to the YMCA. Everyone is so nice to me and I feel so good.” Quote from Jerry H., Special Friends member for 10 years.
